The MFG BI application was designed primarily for use in manufacturing, but the modules can be redesigned to meet the needs of any type of organization. These modules can be used as a starting point to develop a custom, database driven, rich client business application.

This application is different from most other reporting applications, in that it allows for data entry to be done while viewing reports. Some of the advantages for the user, are to seamlessly adjust timelines for production and machine scheduling, set the status of work in process and change reorder levels for inventory items.

There are starter manufacturing reports included with the MFG BI application for work in process, inventory control and lot tracking. The reports were created with the free, open source iReport designer.

The current version of MFG BI is for Windows, but this application can be modified to run on any platform, including Mac OS and Linux.
